1. Cao Lau
According to the people who have lived in Hoi An for a long time, Cao Lau appeared around the 17th century when Vietnam and neighboring countries had perfect trade relations. This has created a unique Cao Lau dish, inspired by Chinese cuisine and Japanese Udon noodles.
This dish has golden noodles, served with shrimp, pork, raw vegetables and a little broth; Cao Lau’s ingredients are generally similar to Mi Quang noodles. Enjoying a bowl of Cao Lau will not be as impressive as the first time you try a bowl of beef noodle soup or a bowl of pho, but people will remember the sweet taste forever.
You can try Cao Lau in many places but if you want to fully taste the delicious taste of Hoi An delicacy, you can only come to Hoi An. In Hoi An, you can easily find a Cao Lau from the street vendors to the famous restaurants.
