Location
Known as the biggest city of the Mekong Delta, Can Tho is located on the right bank of the Bassac River, the lower branch of the Mekong. It may take about 173 km from Ho Chi Minh City.

Characteristics
This friendly, bustling city is connected to most other population centers in the Mekong Delta by a system of roads, rivers and canals. The most prominent feature of this area is the sights of wholesale floating markets, where buyers and sellers move around by boat, displaying typical activities of the local inhabitants, and where visitors can enjoy local fruit specialties such as pomelo, longan, jackfruit, mango and durian.

Main attractions: Cai Rang & Phong Dien floating markets, Khmer pagodas and villages in Soc Trang, 60 km from Can Tho. Sampan ride to Bang Lang stork sanctuary, 35 km from Can Tho.

Cai Rang floating market Can Tho owns a simple, poetic beauty with well-off villages under shade of coconut trees. It is wonderful to take a boat trip along the riverbanks on fine weather days. On the east bank of Hau River is Ninh Kieu Wharf, which is well known for its beautiful location. The friendly local residents will warmly welcome tourists for an over-night stay at their pretty communal houses. Bang Lang Stork Sanctuary with more than 250 thousand storks and other precious bird kinds inhabiting will amaze every visitors with the scene of flocks of storks flying back to their nests under the light of the magnificent sunset.
